EastEnders
The popular British Soap has seen a great year: 12 regular charcaters were introduced; 24 reintroduced characters (including "dead" Kathy Beale); and 9 regular departures. The show has seen some truly great storylines, including Linda Carter's rape, Kat Moon's breakdown, Tina Carter's abuse and the storyline that intrigued the nation - 'Who Killed Lucy Beale?'. The storyline took the show to their 30th anniversary which saw live scenes in the week, with a flashback episode telling us that it was infact Lucy's 10 year old brother, Bobby that killed her.

Coronation Street
The long standing British Soap has seen a good year, with amazing characters leading the line and truly on edge storylines. We saw Rob Donovan kill Tina McIntyre, leaving Peter Barlow to rot in jail; Max Turner's ADHD - leading to Kylie Platt's drug addiction; Roy Cropper's downfall; Faye Windass' pregnancy; Steve McDonald's depression; the return of Sarah & Bethany Platt; a string of romances; and lots of comedy-filled episodes.

Emmerdale
The Yorkshire soap has seen an exciting year which has seen dramatic, emotional plots to loved-up, romanced couples. We've seen the downfall of Declan Macey, which resulted in Robbie Lawson's death; teenager Lachlan White sexual attack Alicia Metcalfe; Belle Dingle's schizophrenia; the returns of Robert Sugden & Aaron Livsey, who later began an affair; and Andy Sugden's breakdown. However, the storyline that brought tears to the nation was Donna Windsor's terminal cancer, relationship with Ross Barton and eventual death.
Hollyoaks
The British soap has seen an thrilling year with shock departures, new arrivals and a lot of surprise twists! The storylines that have aired include: Ste Hay's HIV; Finn O'Connor raping John Paul McQueen; Sam & Danny Lomax's shock death; Patrick Blake abusing Maxine Minniver; Sienna Blake's mental health; Dodger Savage's exciting exit; Tegan Lomax's cancer; and Cindy Cunningham's bipolar. Hollyoaks' shock stunt was when Sienna Blake's car was left in the oncoming way of the wedding party train, killing Carmel and Sonny Valentine.
